This authentically detailed shield is an officially licensed Lord of the Rings reproduction of shields used by soldiers of Gondor in Return of the King. This Limited Edition Second Age Gondorian Shield measures 42 1/2" L x 20 1/2" W and is crafted from distressed hardwood with silk-screened, stained black finish to give it a battle-worn appearance. This meticulously detailed shield features the White Tree emblem of Gondor and offers steel bands, genuine leather arm strap, and a leather wrapped wood handle. This replica includes a wall-mounting kit, certificate of authenticity, and a Gondorian Banner featuring silver embroidery on a black field and mounted on a wood rod. An ancient human like race of Middle-Earth, Elves are noble, elegant and magical beings in harmony with a natural world and its forces. Elves have clearer perception and more heightened awareness than humans, which was a valuable aid when Gil-galad, last High King of the Noldor, joined Elendil, King of Gondor, to create a Last Alliance of Elves and Men in order to defeat evil Sauron and his legions of Mordor orcs. This army of the Last Alliance won the Battle of Dagorlad. Then, on the slopes of Mt. Orodruin, despite heavy losses, the Alliance managed to drive Sauron's forces back. cornered there, Sauron himself took to battle. After heavy battling, Gil-galad and Elendil were slain, but Isildur, son on Elendil, cut "The One Ring" from Sauron's finger, thus ending his reign of power and subduing other evils within Mordor. This High Elven Warrior Shield is a reflection of the stately army of Elves that fought against Sauron and his forces in the prologue to Fellowship of the Ring, and was designed around a leaf motif, adorned with an Elven vine design to reflect an organic nature based on Elven culture.
