After the rather rude and un-Hobbit-like way that his rowdy guests (or intruders) presented themselves at Bag End, it's little wonder that Bilbo Baggins took some time to read through the Contract presented to him by Thorin Oakenshield and the band of Dwarves in his company. A hefty document by any standards, these Conditions of Engagement govern a job that Thorin Oakenshield desperately needs done. An adventurous undertaking judging by the Contract, and adventure is something most hobbits resist. If Bilbo Baggins returns from this quest alive, he will not be the same Hobbit who ran from his front door, having forgotten his pocket handkerchief. Weta's The Contract of Bilbo Baggins is quite a remarkable artefact created by the artists of the 3 Foot 7 Art Department in Wellington, New Zealand. Hand made by calligrapher and artist Daniel Reeve, who made the iconic original contract used in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, this is an absolutely authentic prop replica. Daniel scans his original script which is then digitally printed onto five separate pieces of high-quality watercolour paper for each contract and then die cut to shape. This is the same paper used in the films. Daniel explains the choice of paper: "The paper for the Contract is Arches watercolour 185gsm Cold-Pressed. A beautiful paper for calligraphy, with enough tooth to generate skips, texture and character in any pen work. It takes ink and paint beautifully, and can withstand repeated wettings." Daniel then commences the process of painting the edges of the various sheets and stitching them together by hand, and then fastens the thread with wax seals. He painstakingly applies every crease and every wrinkle by hand, ageing the paper to achieve an authentic looking prop replica. Each exquisite 47 x 22 (141cm x 66cm) piece of art is the work of one man and totally unique.

Every great adventure needs a treasure map and in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the map was created by Thror, grandfather of Thorin Oakenshield. It shows not only the lay of the land, but also detailed instructions. Some clear as day, some concealed. Thorin's Map is an exquisite piece of art from the 3 Foot 7 Art Department. Hand made by calligrapher and artist Daniel Reeve, who made the original prop used in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, this is an absolutely authentic replica. Daniel has scanned his original map and digitally printed it on high-quality watercolour paper as used in the films. Daniel explains the choice of paper: "The Map is made on 190gsm Rough S&W watercolour paper. A lovely surface for painting, with a nicely random tooth. Care must be taken when doing calligraphy on this surface, as the texture can easily catch the nib, or guide it in unintended directions!" Daniel then commences the process of 'breaking down' the map. Breaking down is the art of giving the prop believability. Adding a history to it and making it look real. Daniel painstakingly applies every crease and every wrinkle by hand, 'distressing' the paper to achieve an authentic looking prop replica. The reverse of the map is coloured black, except for the outlines of the famous Moon Runes that play a part in the story. This allows you to see the runes when the map is held up against the light or framed with back lighting.* Each individual map is the work of one man and totally unique. Daniel Reeve's craft is indeed a rare one and this is a prop replica the likes of which are few and far between. Available in strictly limited supply and always subject to the artist's availability, Thorin's Map will be shipped direct from Weta in New Zealand and includes a printed Certificate of Authenticity signed by hand by Daniel Reeve. It ships folded in a vinyl bag in a plain cardboard box for protection.

$30 US
Dimensions for the key itself: 2.4" x 5.1" x 1" (H x W x D)
6 cm x 13 cm x 2.5 cm

Few escaped the fire of the Dragon Smaug when he fell with death and ruin upon the Dwarf realm of Erebor beneath the Lonely Mountain. Even fewer expected to find King Thror or his son Thrain among the survivors, but against all hope the Longbeards had escaped the sack of the city by way of a secret passage. Centuries later, the precious key to this back door to the mountain kingdom would find its way into the hands of Thorin Oakenshield, grandson of Thror and the heir to Erebor, and with it, hope of restoring his thone. The Key to Erebor was designed by Concept Art Director John Howe and created for the film by the artists at the 3 Foot 7 Art Department in Wellington, New Zealand. This prop replica has been cast from moulds of the original prop taken directly from the 3 Foot 7 Art Department. It is cast in metal (Zinc Alloy) and comes on a stand made of polyurethane. Large and heavy, it is the kind of key you just know would open something important. Like the back door to a lost Dwarven Kingdom.

Hobbit Unexpected Journey Cast Wine Gift

Hobbit Unexpected Journey Cast Wine Gift

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Cast and Crew Wine Gift

Released to Movie Cast and Crew: 2012

This is a bottle of Elvish Dorwinian Red Wine and is presented in a hand made wooden Case. This was a gift from Peter Jackson and his production team to the Cast and Crew upon the completion of filming of The Hobbit: Unexpected Journey Films. This is an extremely Rare treasure. Labeled with the Dorwinion wax seal Emblems, Weta Workshop crafted the labels and the Dwarvish Gold coin on the front of the hand crafted wood box. The Wine in the bottle is a drinkable (if you dare) New Zealand Pinot Noir. This is a prized piece for any Tolkien Collector or investor. Dorwinion or Dor-Winion as written by Tolkien, was a land which lay on the northwestern shores of the Sea of Rhn, surrounded by the river Celduin. In Dorwinion, the land yielded a heady wine, which was strong enough to let even Elves get drunk and fall asleep. Dorwinion is mentioned as the place where the special wine of the Elven-king comes from, and the crates are returned by way of the Forest River to Lake-town on Long Lake. The wine of Dorwinion brings great and pleasant dreams.

Many, Many thanks to Tom at WETA Workshop for the information and the photos.
