First panel features Bilbo Baggins examining the One Ring in Bag End, second panel shows Bilbo Baggins on stage at his birthday party, and third depicts Gandalf the Grey and Frodo Baggins riding in a horse drawn carriage through the Shire towards Hobbiton.

Middle-Earth Composite

The Middle-Earth scenes depicted on this Goblet are a Golden Eagle (of which Gwaihir was the most famous), a Fire Drake (of which Smaug was the most famous), the City Castle of Tirion (from The Silmarillion), and a hobbit hole of the type found in Hobbiton. Hobbits are Halfling residents of The Shire said to be related to man. Smaller than dwarves (2-4 feet) tall, with long fingers and large hands, long wavy brown hair and large unclad hairy feet. Wonderfully depicted and inscribed with words of Elvish Tongue.

It was in the First Age, when Morgoth captured the High Elves, that he twisted them into the Orcs used for his armies. The Second and Third Ages of Middle-Earth found the Orcs fighting for the Dark Lord Sauron.

One Ring

It was in the Chamber of Fire within Mount Doom that Sauron forged the One Ring. While still able to take fair form he tricked the free peoples into accepting them as gifts, thus ensnaring them. At the end of the Second Age Isildur would cut the One Ring from the hand of Sauron using the sword Narsil. Betrayed by the One Ring, Isildur would be killed in the Anduin River, and the Ring came to rest on the bottom of the Anduin. It lay there for centuries, until a Stoor named Deagol found it again while fishing with his friend Smeagol. Smeagol would kill Deagol for the Ring, and claim it for his own. Soon after, Smeagol would be banished from his community at take the One Ring deep into the Misty Mountains. Five hundred years later, a Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins would find the Ring in tunnels around Gollum's cave.

Shelob

Daughter of Ungoliant, greatest of evil spirits in the form of a vile monstrous spider. Shelob inhabited the pass of Cirith Ungol above Minas Morgul on the edge of Mordor. A monstrous spider, with claws on her gnarled legs, and a body covered with spikes, she was armed with venom from her great beak and horns. Shelob would wait in her lair for any unsuspecting Orcs to pass through for her meals. Tolerated by Sauron, for no better watch than Shelob was possible, she was even recipient of the occasional sacrificial orc. Her terrible sight is skillfully depicted with her indestructible web firmly clasps this cup.

Saruman

This Goblet depicts Saruman of the Istari or Curunir. Appointed head of the order of the Istari, Saruman wandered Middle-Earth for years in the Second Age, fulfilling his duty in seeking to destroy Sauron through the use of counsel, but after a time, he grew proud and desired power for himself. Taking Orthanc, and the Palantir that came with it, he became corrupted to evil ways by the visions provided to him by Sauron. In the War of the Ring, Saruman openly turns against his mandate to thwart Sauron, and openly aids the Dark Lord. When Gandalf returns from his fall, as Gandalf the White, Saruman is supplanted in his role as head of his order. Saruman will meet his end, after the Battle of Bywater in the Shire, at the hands of Wormtongue who stabs him in the back.

Gandalf

First-named and most praised of the five Istari Wizards who came to Middle-Earth from the Undying Lands. By his wisdom he guided all free peoples of Middle-Earth to victory over Sauron of Mordor. Called Mithrandir by the Elves, and Tharkun by the Dwarves, it is a credit to Gandalf's wisdom that few actually knew of his true power. In fact, most people only thought of Gandalf as a meddler dressed in grey, who would wander the land causing trouble through counsel, or else they saw him as the Hobbits of the Shire saw him, a conjurer who was skilled at making fireworks. Even Grima Wormtongue did not guess his true nature, calling him Gandalf Stormcrow. It was not until Gandalf broke Sarumans staff on the steps of Orthanc that Wormtongue even could guess at the true power of Gandalf.

Galadriel

Bearer of Nenya, second of the three Elf-rings forged by Celebrimbor. The power of Nenya aided Galadriel in holding off the ravages of time within her home of Lothlorien, and also made her aware of Sauron's moves. Through Nenya, Galadriel caused Lothlorien to be invisible to Sauron's Eye. This Lady of Light rests her face on the palm of her hand which functions as stem. Galadriel is lovingly decorated with an onyx on her forehead, matched with a string of "pearls" circling her head, a ring on her forefinger, and a bangle on her elegant arm.

Treebeard

This shepherd of the trees was as old as any creature on Middle-Earth, except the High Elves and Old Tom Bombadil. Treebeard walked the forests when they were all connected into one great wood. Fourteen feet tall, Treebeard ruled as Lord of Fangorn Forest and the Ents. Treebeard has a kindly wise face. Elaborately decorated leaf-textured background and embossed branches exude a dense look.

Aragorn

Aragorn is also known by the name of Strider, Captain of the Dunedain. Three panels show Aragorn as King Elessar, Strider at the Inn of the Prancing Pony tavern in Bree, and at the mighty gates of the ancient Rohan fortress of Helms Deep. On its stem are three figure panels depicting Gandalf the Grey, Legolas prince of Silvan Elves of Mirkwood, and Gimli the dwarf, Lord of Aglarond. This collectible is embellished with three onyx gems.

Orc

Orcs were originally bred by Morgoth, but fought for Sauron in Ring Wars. They were twisted life forms made from tortured Elves and Ents.

Gollum

While often described as the only Hobbit ever to have succumbed to truly evil ways. Smeagol, thus Gollum, was actually a Stoor, a close relation to the Hobbits of the Shire who returned south to reside on the banks of the Anduin River, while the Hobbits stayed near the north-kingdom of the Dunedain. It was Gollum and his cousin, Deagol, who first discovered the Lost Ring of Power. Smeagol immediately murdered Deagol and took the Ring for himself. Through its power, Gollum's life was lengthened, but by its power his shape was twisted beyond recognition. This collectible portrays his ghoulish form as he lived deep beneath roots of the Misty Mountains by foul deeds and unclean meats. His thin and gaunt body, long arms with evil grasping hands, and flat and webbed feet form the stem, while cup features his skull-like head and eyes as large as those of fish in his Misty Mountain cave!

Gandalf

Elaborately decorated leaf-textured background and embossed branches exude a dense look worthy of Fangorn, and being made of pewter is unlikely to grow "tree-ish".

Celeborn

Celeborn was a prince of the Grey-Elves of Beleriand and mightiest of those that came to Middle-Earth after the fall of Beleriand. Kin to King Thranduil of Mirkwood, Celeborn would marry Galadriel and become King of Lothlorien, the Golden Wood. Together they held evil powers at bay through a troubled Third Age. At the beginning of the Fourth Age, Celeborn would dwell in Rivendell with the sons of Elrond, until finally passing over the seas to the Undying Lands and rejoining Galadriel. This goblet shows the head of Celeborn resting on his left hand, making it a mirror image of the Galadriel goblet.

Aragorn

In the words of Dr. Graeme Anthony; "This is version 1, the younger looking Aragorn. Based on the theory that because he had Elven blood in his ancestry he would be almost ageless at this age. In version 2, I decided that as he was about 120 and had lived as a ranger, out doors, in the forests for a time, he would have a more weathered face."

Gimli

Officially authorized by Tolkien Enterprises, this pewter Gimli goblet is magnificently sculpted and exquisitely crafted. Gimli, is a wise and strong dwarf of Erebor who accompanies his father Gloin (Gloin was one of the thirteen dwarves who took the Lonely Mountain back from Smaug with the help of Bilbo Baggins) on the trek to the Council of Elrond in Rivendell. While in the Council, Gimli becomes the representative of Dwarves within the Fellowship of the Ring. Weilding a hefty double edged battle axe, Gimli will accompany Frodo Baggins on his legendary quest to destroy the One Ring in Mordor. With the Fellowship broken at Amon Hen, Gimli (along with Legolas and Aragorn) will undertake the heroic passage across the miles of Rohan in three days and three nights...on foot, earning much praise, if not disbelief, from the Rohirrim. This Gimli goblet magically brings the honorable dwarf to life. Lead-free, making it perfectly safe to use.

Orc Goblet

It was in the First Age when the High-Elves declared war on Morgoth the Enemy. Morgoth, having first stolen the light of the Two Trees, would then poison them. With the light gone, the Elves wanted to pursue Morgoth to Middle-Earth to make war on him knowing that Morgoth had encapsulated the light into three jewels, the Silmarils. Needing soldiers to fight the Elves, Morgoth would take the elves he captured, and twist and torture them into the grotesque creatures we know as Orcs. Driven into battle by Balrogs and Trolls (which were twisted and transformed Ents) the Orcs of Morgoth would survive the breaking of Thangorodrim and eventually breed into numbers large enough to serve Sauron in numbers by the Third Age.

Legolas Goblet

Son of King Thranduil of Mirkwood, legolas was a prince of the Woodland Realm. Years before, Gollum had been captured by Anborn of the Dunedain on the outskirts of Mirkwood and brought to Thranduil by Aragorn for safe keeping as a captive. Being basically a compassionate people, Gollum was allowed to roam Mirkwood for short periods of time. Gollum, being Gollum, eventually escaped. Sent as an emmisary of Thranduil and a representative of the wood-elves, Legolas was present in Rivendell when the Council of Elrond took place. Basically, Legolas was to inform Elrond and Aragorn that Gollum had escaped from the confinements of the Wood-elves. During the Council Legolas was recruited into The Fellowship of the Ring. His eyesight and bow would prove invaluable on more than one occasion. Riding down the mighty Anduin River on the boats gifted to the company by Galadriel of Lothlorien, it was a very dark night when Legolas alone saw something flying through the air and he shot it. Some conjecture that he shot a Fell Beast out from under the newly re-formed and re-armed Nazgul.

Eowyn

Eowyn, desirous of a life that does not preclude her from taking up arms, goes to battle on the Pelennor Fields with the Rohirrim. Dressed as Dernhelm, a man of Rohan, she manages to get herself right into the thick of the battle before the Gates of Minas Tirith. It is here that she spots her fallen uncle, King Theoden, trapped beneath Snowmane. Rushing to his aid, Eowyn finds herself in a confrontation with the Witch-King of Angmar aboard his Fell Beast. Her deeds are epic. Eowyn is the sister of Eomer, and the niece of King Theoden. After the war, Eowyn will wed Prince Faramir of Gondor and they will live together in Emyn Arnen

Last in the line of Isildur and Anarion, ancient kings of Numenor (the figures of the Argonath), Aragorn is reluctant to claim the throne of Gondor in Minas Tirith. It is after the War of the Ring that Aragorn will finally embrace his destiny. Having crushed the ambitions of Isengard at Helms Deep, and defeated the might of Sauron on the Pelennor Fields, finally achieving Saurons complete demise, Aragorn will wed Arwen and be crowned King Elessar on the Citadel grounds above Minas Tirith.

Boromir

Base is a carving of the Horn of Gondor and the name Boromir is engraved in hobbit runes on his shoulder.
While there are many tragic tales within Lord of the Rings, only a few are more tragic than the tale of Boromir. Eldest son of Denethor, Steward of Gondor, and brother of Faramir, Boromir was a mighty Captain of the Armies of Gondor and of direct Numenorean lineage. Boromir and his brother are having puzzling dreams about a weapon of Sauron's devising, and the only clue in the dream leads Boromir to Rivendell and the House of Elrond. Once there, Boromir is appointed to be one of the representatives of Men within the company known as The Fellowship of the Ring. Always seeking the defense of Gondor from the attacks of Mordor, Boromir falsely believes that the One Ring could be a tool to strengthen Gondor and he wishes to wield it himself. He tries to take it by force from Frodo, in a moment of weakness, upon Amon Hen. After a brave stand against a company of Uruk-Hai, Boromirs body is laid to rest in one of the companies canoes, and sent over the Falls of Rauros, the mighty Horn of Gondor split in two.

Arwen

Beautiful and elegant Arwen of Rivendell is brought to life with classically sculpted collectible Goblet. Beloved daughter of Elrond and Celebrian (Celebrian is the daughter of Galadriel) of Rivendell and the immortal love of Aragorn. This goblet represents Arwen from the literature. Ironically, it was in Lothlorien that Arwen met Aragorn (Aragorn was raised in Rivendell) for the first time, and the two fell in love. Being the daughter of Elrond the Half-elven Arwen was gifted the right to choose her fate. She chose a mortal life with Aragorn in Middle-Earth, rather than an immortal life in the Undying West.

Grima Wormtongue

Wormtongue, servant and spy of Saruman, is brought to life with classically sculpted Goblet. Counselor to King Theoden of the Mark, Grima Wormtongue betrayed his country in favor of the Wizard Saruman. Having been expelled from Rohan, Wormtongue returned to Isengard just to find it in ruins. Treebeard confines Wormtongue in Orthanc along with his master Saruman. Eventually the two escape to the Shire, and after the Battle of Bywater, Wormtongue kills Saruman before perishing from bowshot himself.
