Sideshow Collectibles Lord of the Rings Figures

Beginning in 2001 Sideshow Collectibles introduced these statues / figures to their line of LOTR releases. Most of these have been sculpted in approximately 1:6 scale, and all are cast in high quality polystone, hand-finished, and hand-painted to exacting standards. They come complete with a hand-numbered individual edition number on the bottom side of the base. Developed by a combination of artists and the Sideshow Collectibles Design and Development team, these figures might be the most collectible of the Lord of the Rings pieces.

Brought forth from Udun by Morgoth in the First age, the Balrogs were amongst the greatest terrors ever to exist. A creature of both shadow and flame, they would reap much devastation on the High Elves in the War of the Jewels. It was the breaking of Thangorodrim, and the casting of Morgoth into the void, that saw the near end of this species. However, at least one would survive to devastate the Dwarves in the Mines of Moria. It was this same Balrog that the Fellowship of the Ring would encounter late in the Third Age. In an epic stand, Gandalf the Grey would confront this demon of the ancient world, and the two would fall into the chasm below the Bridge of Khazad-Dum. The confrontation would bring an end to the Balrog and Gandalf the Grey. This Balrog figure depicts it with the whip of fire in its hand.

It was at Balins Tomb, in the Chamber of Mazarbul, in Fellowship of the Ring, that this Cave Troll joined a troop of Moria Orcs attacking the Fellowship of the Ring deep in the Mines of Moria. Though not abundantly intelligent, the Troll's great size, strength and tough hide made him a dangerous and ferocious adversary in battle. It may have been instinct, or sheer coincidence, that this Cave Troll seemed to seek out Frodo Baggins in particular from the rest of the company. This Cave Troll Statue is large, in charge, and a great piece for your collection!

It is in The Fellowship of the Ring, at his Birthday party that the old Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, tells the tale of how he once saw three arguing Trolls turned to stone by the light of the Sun. The younger Hobbits (Merry Brandybuck, Pippin Took, Sam Gamgee, and Frodo Baggins) regarded this tall tale with some doubt, until fleeing in the wilds below Weathertop from the Ringwraiths, they came upon these very same Stone Trolls, still frozen in place and overgrown with weeds. Artisans at WETA Workshop have brought this tale to life in this to-scale environment. This Stone Trolls statue / diorama will make a perfect addition to any Lord of the Rings collection.

Mostly destroyed at the end of the First Age, with the breaking of Thangorodrim and the overthrow of Melkor (Morgoth), at least this one Balrog escaped the destruction. Taking refuge in the deepest, darkest recesses of the world that it could find, this Balrog would eventually come to reside under the Misty Mountains. For over an age, the Balrog lay as a hidden evil inside its shadowy realm until the Dwarves of Khazad unleashed it. The Balrog of Moria statue is once again being produced at Sideshow / WETA Workshop for all of those customers who missed out the first time around. This completely new sculpture captures the essence of a Balrog of Morgoth in dramatic form.

Once great kings of men, the Nazgul (Ringwraiths) and their leader, the Witch-king of Angmar, were originally tricked by Sauron in the Second Age. Sauron, who was still able to take fair form, ensnared these kings with gifts in the form of Rings of Power. Mightiest of the Nazgul was the Witch-King of Angmar. Angmar was the Witch-Kings stronghold in the North where he could strike out at the descendants of Numenor in their North-kingdom of Arnor. In a smaller version of the Last Alliance, the Witch-King was overthrown and Angmar destroyed, but the Witch-King himself was spared an immediate end by Glorfindel who proclaimed that the end of the Witch-King would not come today, and would not come at the hands of men or elves. With his ejection from Angmar, the Witch-King would gather together the remaining Nazgul and besiege Minas Ithil, turning it into Minas Morgul. This Witch-king of Angmar statue captures the Lord of the Nazgul as he is seen in Fellowship of the Ring when these invisible slaves to the will of Sauron would attack the Hobbits on Weathertop. Revealed by the One Ring, Frodo Baggins then saw this Witch-king in his true form, a cold, twisted echo of his long-distant self.

Wrought by fell means and infused with spells of devastation, the Dark Lord Sauron, is impervious to all harm while the power of the One Ring is his. This Sauron statue captures his majestic stature in glorious detail.

Hung with cruel weaponry and saddled by their Haradrim masters with lofty war towers, Mumakils charge in to battle crushing and destroying everything in their path. From atop their precarious perches, Haradrim rain arrows and spears down upon their foes, while their Mumakil grind horse and Man alike underfoot. A defeat of one of these mighty Mumakil of Harad is expertly captured in this polystone statue, sculpted by WETA Workshop. With a war tower on the verge of collapse and all Haradrim riders slain, this colossal Mumak of Harad is captured in the midst of its inevitable fall on the Pelennor Fields.

As Sauron puts forth his might against Gondor, he calls to him all those grim peoples under his sway. From Umbar in the south by way of the River Anduin come great black ships crewed by fearsome Corsairs. A brutal race of men, Corsairs of Umbar are painted with tattoos and bear wicked arms to board and sack their prey on open seas. Now they sail north to Gondor in answer of Sauron's call to war, their appetites for conquest whetted by thought of plunder in the fall of Minas Tirith. With this final piece in the Lord of the Rings statues series, we pay tribute to a man who made these movies possible, Peter Jackson. Without Peter's vision, direction, and imagination, Tolkien's world could never have been realized so faithfully or flawlessly. We celebrate Peter Jackson's final cameo appearance in the Lord of the Rings trilogy as a Corsair of Umbar mercenary, destined for a fateful encounter with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli.

Spawn of Ungoliant and an ancient evil, Shelob is an unholy terror lurking in the high pass outside Cirith Ungol. In an attempt to reclaim the One Ring, Gollum leads Frodo Baggins into Shelob's Lair with hopes that Shelob will make Frodo into her next meal. Thanks to the heroics of Samwise Gamgee, Frodo is saved from almost certain consumption, and the Ring is kept away from the hands of Gollum. The display base has been etched with the map of Middle-Earth and also includes the Lord of the Rings logo, piece name and sculptor's signature. This Shelob statue is an authentic replication of the monstrous creation from the Return of the King movie.
