On their quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain, the company of Thorin Oakenshield encounter a trio of gruesome trolls. We have previously introduced you to Tom the Troll. Bert the Troll takes great pride in his role as the group’s cook. Though he fancies himself something of a gourmand, Bert’s culinary experience and inspirations fail to elicit praise from his companions, William and Tom, who complain that all his meals taste the same. The proverbial floater in Bert’s stew is the wheedling Tom, whom he cannot stand and takes every opportunity to berate or thump with his oversized ladle. The second in our set of the three Trolls from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Bert is available to pre-order now and will be shipping in Oct/Nov 2013. The third and final Troll, William, will open for pre-orders before October. Previously released and shipping world wide is Tom the Troll. Bert the troll was played by Mark Hadlow in the movie. He is presented as a finely detailed miniature collectible designed and sculpted by Weta Workshop creature designer Andrew Baker, who made the conceptual designs for the trolls and other creatures in the movie. The pose may look familiar to those who have seen the three well travelled trolls who visited San Diego Comic-Con 2012. They later attended the red carpet at the World Premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington last November and then took over the main foyer at New Zealand's National Museum, Te Papa.

The first misfortune to befall Bilbo Baggins and his Dwarf companions on their quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain comes in the form of three gruesome Trolls with plans to cook the Company for their dinner. Dimmest of the three ruffians, Tom the Troll resides at the bottom of their brutal walloping order. Wheedling, allergy-ridden and lazy-eyed, Tom frequently catches blows from his companions, though when he reaches for his handkerchief to blow an over-stuffed nose on the evening they steal the Dwarves’ ponies it is a ‘burrahobbit’ that he catches instead! The first in a set of the three Trolls from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Tom is available in our US and UK warehouses now and Bert is available to pre-order. William will open for pre-orders before October 2013. Tom the troll was played by William Kircher in the movie.

William the Troll - the third and final in our trio of gruesome trolls is here. We have previously introduced you to Tom the Troll and Bert the Troll. By virtue of a slight advantage in intellect and a forceful character, William the Troll is the trio’s leader and provider, snatching up the Dwarves’ ponies for their dinner. Calculating - by Troll standards - it is William who realises catching Bilbo is the key to disarming the angry Dwarf mob that attacks them. He is the only one of the group who grasps that the Hobbit is trying to trick them with cooking tips and tales of parasites, but, unfortunately for the Trolls, a little too late. The third and final in our set of the three Trolls from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, William is available to pre-order now and will be shipping in Nov/Dec 2013. Previously released are Tom the Troll (Shipping World Wide) and Bert the Troll (on pre-order). William the troll was played by Peter Hambleton in the movie. William the Troll is presented as a finely detailed miniature collectible

Thorin Oakenshield was sculpted by Scott Spencer.

A proud and noble Dwarf of resolute character and stern bearing, Thorin Oakenshield™ is the grandson of Thror of the line of Durin and heir to lost throne of Erebor. Alongside Moria, Erebor stood as the greatest of the realms of the Dwarves, a vast kingdom carved from the living rock of The Lonely Mountain, bustling with trade and bursting with wealth. Down upon Erebor the great dragon Smaug™ had fallen and the city and its people were engulfed by the inferno of his coming. Thorin Oakenshield and his kin were fortunate to escape with their lives, though they left everything else behind. Their treasure and pride was swept up by the dragon into a pile upon which he curled to sleep, deep inside the mountain. Throughout the long, hard decades of his exile, Thorin Oakenshield’s mind ever dwelled upon the thought of some day retaking the mountain and restoring his people to their erstwhile splendour. In time he would form a company of Dwarves, thirteen in number and at the Wizard Gandalf’s insistence, reluctantly employ the services of the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins, setting out for The Lonely Mountain with dreams of gold and glory. Beset by enemies and misfortune, Thorin Oakenshield and his party would lose much along the way, but one prize the grim-faced Dwarf was pleased to lay hands upon early in his journey was the mighty sword, Orcrist™, a famous blade of Elven make and well suited to be carried by a king, if one yet in want of a kingdom

Balin the dwarf was sculpted by Lindsey Crummett.
When Balin the Dwarf spoke in the great halls of Erebor, the wise would listen. The council of Fundin’s eldest son was much revered among the noble Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain and beyond, for he was clear-sighted, discerning and erudite. Even as a young Dwarf, Balin the Dwarf’s artful word-craft was equal to the jewellery of the finest Dwarven smith. A lord in his own right, Balin the Dwarf was cousin to the King Under the Mountain and friend to Prince Thorin Oakenshield in the days of the Dwarf realm’s grandeur. But that was before the coming of Smaug. In a single devastating assault, Erebor was consumed by fire and death when the Dragon fell upon them. The heirs of Durin fled and with them Balin the Dwarf and his brother Dwalin the Dwarf. Through the long years in exile, Balin the Dwarf’s sage council was depended upon by Thorin Oakenshield, surviving heir to the lost throne and in whom the hope of a displaced people now resided. When Thorin Oakenshield begins making plans to reclaim their home, Balin the Dwarf is with him, resolute, loyal and solicitous, there to provide a thoughtful word in the ear and a sword at his side. While the old Dwarf is long in beard, his gnarled hands have lost little of their strength over the years and his eyes are still as keen as a hawk’s. Upon his hip he wears a wickedly pointed Dwarven mace. Wrought in the smithies of Erebor lost, its edges are as sharp as any sword and its copper-hued faces blaze like fire in the sun. Weta continues the legacy of producing finely crafted, highly detailed 1/6 scale collectible polystone statues from Middle-earth. The essence of each character expertly captured in every piece.

Balin the dwarf was sculpted by Greg Tozer.
Undertaking to return to Erebor, the lost kingdom of the Dwarves, wherein a Dragon lay waiting, Thorin Oakenshield seeks to gather a Company of able souls of diverse skills and unshakable conviction. As the heir to the stolen throne and upon whose shoulders the future of the line of Durin depends, Thorin Oakenshield feels keenly the threat of failure and what it will bring – a fiery death for himself and the loss of his people’s hope. To that end, Thorin Oakenshield calls upon those whom he can trust above all others, and in none could his faith be more certain than Dwalin the Dwarf, his cousin and friend. Tall for a Dwarf and a warrior of renown among his kind, Dwalin the Dwarf has fought at Thorin Oakenshield’s side many times and the two spar regularly to hone each others skills. More like a brother than distant kin, Dwalin the Dwarf is loyal to the last hair in his beard and would willingly lay down his own life if it would save Thorin Oakenshield’s. In battle the scarred old warrior wields the mighty axes Ukhlat and Umraz, and a great hammer near as tall as he stands. Upon his arms and scalp are tattoos as angular and hard-edged in design as the Dwarf himself, and upon his brow is knitted a frown etched by years hardship. Yet Dwalin the Dwarf is not cheerless, for Dwarves feel all things deeply. Grudges he bears, but Dwalin the Dwarf also laughs loudest and with all his heart in times of mirth and celebration. No stronger second could Thorin Oakenshield have hoped for in his quest. Weta continues the legacy of producing finely crafted, highly detailed 1/6 scale collectible polystone statues from Middle-earth. The essence of each character expertly captured in every piece.

WETA Hobbit Unexpected Journey Bombur WETA Hobbit Unexpected Journey Bombur WETA Hobbit Unexpected Journey Bombur The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Bombur the Dwarf Figure

Limited Edition: 1000
March 2013
$250 US
Dimensions: 9.3" x 9.1" x 5.9" (H x W x D) 23.5 cm x 23 cm x 15 cm
Weight: 3.4 lbs (1.5 kg)
Bombur the Dwarf was sculpted by Scott Spencer and Greg Tozer
Please Note - the images above are of a pre-production prototype. Each statue is painted by hand and slight variations will occur. Brother of Bofur and cousin to Bifur, Bombur rounds out the Company of Thorin as the Quest’s travelling cook. Broad even for a Dwarf, who as a people tend to be stocky and wide of belly, Bombur has a passion for the preparation and consumption of food. But there is far more to the roly-poly Dwarf than just an appetite and predilection for culinary adventuring. Bombur may be somewhat innocent in the ways of the world and not as well travelled or experienced as some of his older companions, nor has he ever seen the object of the Quest, the Lonely Mountain they seek to reclaim, but he is brave, doughty and as loyal as he is capable with his ladle – a surprisingly effective weapon when swung like a hammer. A strong and dauntless fighter when pressed, the young Dwarf soon finds he can take care of himself when it most matters, and can put on a surprising turn of speed, but then Dwarves are natural sprinters.
