LO 3 - Sam

Mithril figure #LO 3 is Sam Gamgee. A gardener of the Shire. Residing in Bagshot Row with his "Old Gaffer", Sam Gamgee was employed by both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins in turn. His love of all things that grow can be cited as reason for the gift that Galadriel would give him upon the Fellowship of the Rings' departure from Lothlorien. After the War of the Ring, Sam was instrumental in bringing the Shire back to it's former glory, a remarkable feat when considering the damage done by Saruman. As the last of the ringbearers on Middle-Earth, Sam Gamgee would eventually leave Middle-Earth from the Grey Havens after many. many happy years with Rosie Cotton.

LO 4 - Strider

Mithril figure #LO 4 is Strider. Known as Strider, through the first half of The Fellowship of the Ring, this Captain of the Dunedain was actually heir to the throne of Gondor. As last direct descendant of Anarion, his true name was hidden from almost all for most of his youth to keep him safe from the spies of Sauron. Raised in Rivendell, it is ironic that he would meet Arwen of Rivendell in Lothlorien, where Arwen spent many years in the company of Celeborn and Galadriel..

LO 5 - Legolas

Legolas (Mithril #LO 5) was is actually Prince Legolas of Mirkwood. His father is King Thranduil of the wood-elves stronghold in Mirkwood near the edge of Long Lake. After the War of the Ring, Legolas travels with Gimli around Middle-Earth paying particular attention to Fangorn Forest. Later he would bring some of the Elves of Mirkwood to dwell in Ithilien, with permission from King Elessar, until his final departure from Middle-Earth into the Undying West.

LO 6 - Gimli

It was no small thing that Gimli, son of Gloin, would befriend an elf of Mirkwood. The two peoples shared a distrust, even animosity towards each other for centuries. Mithril figurine # LO 6 shows Gimli as the stout-hearted and steady dwarf that he is. Following the War of the Ring, Gimli would become King of the Glittering Caves of Aglarond. If you have only seen the movies, these caves are only known to you as the place behind Helms Deep where the people of Rohan are holed up during the battle of Helms Deep in The Two Towers movie. Gimli would eventually pass to the Undying West along with Legolas, an exceptional gift for a dwarf granted only to Gimli, who is known as elf-friend.

LO 7 - Merry

Being the more astute of the two younger Hobbits, Merry Brandybuck (Mithril #LO 7) will spend his time in Rivendell, just prior to the Council of Elrond, studying the peoples and maps of Middle-Earth. Perhaps this is where he developed a fondness for the people of Rohan. Appointed as a member of The Fellowship of the Ring, Merry Brandybuck would eventually find himself in Rohan pledging allegiance to King Theoden. It is on the Pelennor Fields that Merry can claim his greatest feat, in concert with Eowyn, he will aid in the destruction of the Witch-King of Angmar.

LO 8 - Pippen

The youngest of the Hobbits appointed to The Fellowship of the Ring, Pippen Took (Mithril #LO 8) is perhaps the most energetic and enthusiastic of the group. It was Pippen's curiosity that would deceive Sauron into thinking the One Ring was going to Gondor. While in Gondor, Pippen Took would pledge his allegiance to Denethor and the people of Gondor. Made a member of the Citadel Guard, Pippen would fight admirably before the Gates of Mordor.

LO 9 - Boromir

The tale of Boromir will always serve to remind that just power cannot be taken by force. A mighty Captain of the Army of Gondor, Boromir (Mithril #LO 9) is son of Denethor and brother of Faramir. Bearer of the Horn of Gondor, Boromir is held in high esteem by the people of his realm, who are now prone to revering might in arms, rather than wisdom in thought. In times past it would have been Faramir, not Boromir, who would have been held in the highest of regards by the people of Minas Tirith.

LO 10 - Galadriel

63 mm LO 10 is the powerful and beautiful Galadriel, Lady of Light. Along with her husband Celeborn, Galadriel rules Lothlorien and simultaneously keeps it hidden from the Eye of Sauron and even other elves. Bearer of Nenya, one of the three rings gifted to the Elves by Sauron, Galadriel is Queen of one of the last strongholds of the High Elves in Middle-Earth. Originally forbidden from entry into the Undying Lands, Galadriel would eventually be allowed to cross the sea. She departs from the Grey Havens at the close of the Third Age.

LO 11 - Saruman the Wizard of Orthanc

Of the five Istari to come to Middle-Earth in the opening of the Second Age, Saruman was the most powerful, but not the wisest. Proving to be somewhat more desirous of power and possessions than his Valar brethren, Saruman took up residence in the Numenorean stronghold of Orthanc. In possession of a Palantir, and desirous of advantage, Saruman is duped by Sauron into betrayal of his mission....guidance of the free peoples of Middle-Earth against the machinations of Sauron. His life comes to a close at the hand of Wormtongue with a knife in his back, after the Battle of Bywater, during the Scouring of the Shire.

LO 12 - Ring-wraith

This figure (Mithril #LO 12) is of a generic Ringwraith, if such a thing could be said to be. The Ringwraiths were twisted into being by Sauron of Mordor in the Second Age. Desirous of power, these once Kings of Men, were easily duped into accepting Rings of Power and thus became Nazgul. The most powerful of the servants of Sauron, the Ringwraiths chiefly dealt in terror. Under control of the Witch-King of Angmar, it was the Ringwraiths and their armies that overtook Minas Ithil and turned it into Minas Morgul.

LO 13 - Tom Bombadil

Known by many names to the different peoples of Middle-Earth Tom Bombadil was easily the most enigmatic character in Middle-Earth, Tom Bombadil was oldest of all living creatures; "Tom was here before the rivers and the trees; Tom remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn". With his wife Goldberry, Tom Bombadil spent the Second and Third Ages living on the outskirts of The Old Forest just outside the Shire, where he was well known to the Hobbits of Buckland who sang songs and told tales of this creature of the woods. In Fellowship of the Ring he handled the One Ring without care or concern for its nature, it had no effect on him at all.

LO 14 - Goldberry

Goldberry (Mithril #LO 14) was known to Tom Bombadil as "River-Daughter". She is wife of Old Tom Bombadil and the daughter of the River-Woman of the Withywindle. Together, Goldberry and Tom tend to the Old Forest, garden and sing. Very little else is known about Goldberry.

LO 15 - Isengard Orc warrior

Mithril #LO 15 is known generically as a Isengard Orc Warrior. While not explicitly stated it should be fairly clear that this figure is a Uruk-Hai Orc of Sarumans breeding. The presence of the White Hand of Isengard on the shield is the only solid evidence of this assertion.
