Return of the King is the initial release of the
King block. It focuses on characters of royal descent like Eomer and
Aragorn. The final battle has begun - the game is only beginning! This
expansion to the Lord of the Rings CCG features stunning new cards
showcasing images, characters and locales from The Return of the King.
The first of three expansions making up the "King block," The Return of
the King will introduce new game mechanics called "threats" and
"initiative", a new site path, new versions of all the Fellowship members,
Arwen, and Elrond, and new characters such as Denethor (already seen in a
preview version). Cards will support both the open tournament format
(including Fellowship, Tower, and King blocks) and the King block format.
As the base set of the King block, The Return of the King will have a
configuration similar to that of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two
Towers. It will include two different playable 63-card starter decks,
featuring Aragorn and Éomer, and each booster pack contains 11 randomized
cards (1 rare, 3 uncommon and 7 common cards). A foil from the complete
parallel diffraction foil set will replace a common card in approximately
one in six booster packs. All starters and boosters contain only cards
from The Return of the King expansion. Shown Left Top (2 Photos):
